9:32 PM Pacific Time – The police now say there were 3 people shot outside the stadium…not 4 as they initially said.
A law enforcement official told reporters that their initial investigation showed that two vehicles were involved in a shootout… that injured 3 people. One of the injured was a woman attending a baseball game.. she was hit by the wrong bullet.
Police say other wounded were later admitted to hospital…and are currently being questioned by investigators
Police are still trying to locate the second vehicle involved in the shooting.
A terrifying moment outside Nationals Park tonight during the Washington-San Diego Padres game… after multiple people were shot, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The match was suspended in the sixth inning… after shooting near the side entrance to the third base of the football field.
Washington police said on Twitter that two victims were outside the stadium… and two others were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The police also say that there does not appear to be any continuing threat.
It is unclear if the shooter is in custody.
Videos circulating on social media show a frightening scene… with terrified fans fleeing the area.

I heard several bangs inside the stadium…and some fans started pouring into the exits. Other fans rushed onto the field…not knowing where the threat came from.
Some players were seen running from the field to the bunker and down the tunnels.
There are reports of active gunfire near the Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

The Nationals public address announcer called on fans inside the stadium to remain calm… explaining that the “accident” had taken place outside.
The team issued a statement addressing the situation, saying… “Tonight’s game has been suspended at the bottom of the sixth inning due to an accident surrounding National Park.”
The condition of the victims is not yet clear.
The match – which Padres led 8-4 – will continue tomorrow afternoon.
