Kanye WestThe legal team has a lot of work to do if they want to rid the online marketplace of imitation Yeezys — while Walmart has halted sales on its site, there are still hundreds more on the others.
West’s Yeezy Foam RNNRs have taken over the market, so it’s no surprise that imitators are trying to cash in. However, as of Friday, Walmart has removed all replicas from its online store.
TMZ broke the story… Kanye Wizzy lawsuit against the retail giant, claiming that its $25 counterfeit price tag could have cost you “hundreds of millions” of dollars in sales of its original $75 design.
Walmart, for its part, said the online listings were from a third party.
You’d think a suit would scare others, but we’ve discovered hundreds of other listings on sites that pay what seems to be more wishful thinking. Etsy is a hot spot for them, pairs run anywhere from $30 to $60, and one listing calls the shoes “Yeezy Inspired,” but they look like exact copies.
We’ve reached out to the Kanye team to see if they have any plans to pursue the remaining listings as they did Walmart. Nothing has been submitted yet.
One thing is for sure, that Yeezy shoes have made Kanye a very wealthy man, with his recent net worth reportedly in the billions of dollars.
