Chile, the helmet of salvation received a lot of press this week and celebrities are coming out of the woodwork to put in their year. After a video of a few black women wearing hoods at an airport went viral a little over a week ago, a debate erupted online about whether or not women should wear hoods and headscarves in public.
The fact that everyone feels that they can monitor what black women are wearing is beyond me, but that hasn’t stopped many famous tweeters from ringing.
It wasn’t long before my aunt Featured Mo’Nique With an entire video clip over the weekend, she talks to her followers about her stance on the issue.
“So when we got to the airport yesterday, I was like ‘Okay baby let’s go to Jackson, Em,’ and when we started walking through the airport, I saw a lot, actually too many to count, too many for me to take advantage of. But I saw a lot of Our little sisters wear headscarves, scarves, slippers, pajamas, and blankets wrapped around them, and that’s how they go to the airport.”
She went on to explain that the airport was not the only place she had seen women dressed like this.
“The question I ask you, sweet children, when have we lost the pride in representing ourselves?” Monique asked.
She added, “I’m not saying you don’t have the pride but the acting you show, someone should ask you to know you have.”
Check out what she said below:
Tokyo Vanity seems to have had enough and decided to take on the hoodie wearers on Monday, explaining that people should really only care about their business. Talk also noted the irony of how Mo’Nique is dressed when she tackled the issue.
Chad Ochosenko took things a step further and let us know he’s a total hood fan!
Where do you side in this case? Let’s know!
