Wildfires in Australia in January 2020 devastated lives, homes and wildlife.

A study by the World Weather Classification Association stated that global warming increased the risk of hot, dry weather that has the potential to cause fires by 30%.

Teen climate activists Airly, Ava and Will want to do more to tackle climate change in Australia, one of the world’s largest greenhouse gas emissions per capita.

“Climate action” is Goal 13 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, a set of goals announced in 2015 to change lives around the world by 2030. The United Nations wants countries around the world to take “urgent action” to combat change the climate.

This video is part of Project 17, the BBC World Service Series produced in partnership with The Open University, in which 17-year-olds look at progress made in achieving the UN’s 17 goals. Find programs and videos here.
