Kerala firmly said no to the BJP in the 2021 General Assembly elections because the National Party failed to win a single seat and was unable to retain its only seat in the state.

Although the BJP publicly claimed that it would win 10 to 20 seats, several leaders told TNM that Amit Shah had instructed the party to win at least four seats this time.

Since then, he has been the aggressive face of the party that led many protests against the ruling Democratic Defense Party. Read: Kerala chief BJP K Surendran loses Konni and Manjeshwar, Sabarimala Plank fails.
