The European Union reopens borders for those with acceptable vaccines

Greece, Italy and Spain – countries that are highly dependent on tourism and whose economies have been shrinking more than their northern neighbors during the pandemic – have pushed hard to find a way to safely reopen their doors. Few countries, including Greece, decided a few weeks ago to open their doors to Americans and residents of dozens of other countries. Britain, which is no longer a member of the European Union, has a separate set of rules, with no special treatment yet for vaccinated travelers. Americans can travel there, but they must quarantine for at least five days, regardless of whether they are vaccinated.
