The authorities in Russia have begun sounding the alarm about a new wave of the Corona virus that is now sweeping the country, causing a record number of deaths in recent days.
Some regions have begun to impose restrictions – including Moscow, where many workers are required to be vaccinated and restaurants will soon open only for people who can prove they are Covid-free.
Meanwhile, St Petersburg hosts Euro 2020 soccer fans and is reluctant to take any drastic measures, even as the city’s hospitals are filled with Covid patients.
