The Apple Daily, Hong Kong’s largest pro-democracy newspaper, has announced its closure, in a major blow to media freedom in the city.

Let me tell you how the next ten years will turn out. China will annex Hong Kong in one form or another, with little or no opposition. Larpers will continue to post on reddit or 4chan, while they continue their miserable and comforting existence under CCP.

Your dissenting votes will not restore your damned country.

So I’m a bit unfair, but it’s frustrating to see Hong Kong resist so much in the 2000s and especially 2019, only to fall back completely when the Chinese Communist Party does its biggest transgression. My spirits are probably bleak now, I wish there was a fight left in the resistance.
