“We want to note that the Board has granted a special quote to Darnella Frazier, the teenage witness who filmed and published the transformative video that shocked viewers and sparked protests against police brutality around the world,” she added.
The honor was given after the Minneapolis Board of Directors awarded the Star-Tribune the Pulitzer Prize – arguably journalism’s most prestigious award – for its reporting on Floyd’s death and its aftermath.
Darnella was 17 when she whipped her phone to record the fatal arrest. After the video was posted on social media, it spread like wildfire around the world, causing it to spread انتشار global movement against police brutality.
But, after the video went viral, Darnella said that she I had to turn away out of her home for safety. She also suffered from anxiety attacks and could not sleep… She would often wake up shaking until her mother shook her back to sleep.

On the Anniversary 1 year On Floyd’s death… Darnella said although it was a traumatic life-changing experience, she was still very proud of herself. And she added, “If it wasn’t for my video, the world wouldn’t know the truth.”
Video, of course, played a huge role in the prosecution and Chauvin’s condemnation.
