Thousands of treasure hunters flocked to the village of Kawahati in South Africa, believing that the area could contain diamonds.
It comes after a man dug a crystal-like stone in an open field and told about the find.
The stones have yet to be analyzed by geologists, and authorities have asked people at the site to leave so a proper investigation can be carried out.
The county government also posted a video of the area on Twitter, in which it expressed concern over what it called a “diamond rush.” They tweeted that they “note with concern reports of illegal mining activity in Kuahlathi outside Ladysmith”.
