In an exclusive interview with the BBC’s Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg, the head of Russia’s foreign intelligence service denied that his agency was linked to a large-scale cyber attack in the United States last year.
Sergey Naryshkin was responding to accusations from the UK and US authorities that the Russian intelligence service had carried out the SolarWinds attack, which was described as the most sophisticated hacking operation in the world.
Naryshkin indicated that Western intelligence may have orchestrated the operation. The Russian intelligence chief also revealed that he has reconnected with the head of MI6, and that he hopes to meet face to face soon.
