Road to the Olympics with Pro Skater Amelia Brodka

When it comes to the skateboard industry, few have done so much to support and promote female inclusion than Amelia Brodka.

Originally from Poland, she became fascinated with skateboarding after watching a female demo at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia. Having first started skiing while living in New Jersey, she took her skills to the next level once she moved west to California. Brodka quickly developed a love for Vert slopes, and quickly became a fixture on the Vert scene in Southern California.

While this Polish powerhouse is a fierce competitor—it has won two European Vans Park Series championships and a bronze at the Vert World Championships—what it has achieved behind the scenes has had a huge impact on both the women and the skateboarding industry. As a whole.

After noticing a significant lack of industry support for skaters, Brodka created the documentary, not exposedTo highlight the root causes of this problem. The film explored how a lack of competitive outlets and sponsorship dollars was stifling professional skaters.

Meeting the need to develop a comprehensive space, Brodka co-founded Skate exposure– – A non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and girls through skateboarding. In addition to offering skateboarding educational programs and demonstrations to schools around the world, EXPOSURE has launched the largest female-only exhibition in the world. skating competition-which included a record prize money of $60,000 and more than 180 entries from 15 different countries in 2018.

This summer, Brodka got the chance to inspire women around the world on the biggest skateboarding stage yet – the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. She will represent her native Poland and is thrilled to have the opportunity to compete at the global level.
