Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon received a fifth Academy Award nomination for its latest film, Wolfwalkers.
The studio uses a mixture of hand-drawn animation and computer graphics techniques in its films.
Tom Moore is the co-founder of the Kilkenny-based operation that is now a major player on the global animation stage.
His latest movie, Wolfwalkers, was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animation alongside the likes of Pixar’s Soul.
Travel restrictions for Covid-19 mean the Cartoon Saloon team will attend Sunday’s party remotely.
Tom Moore said, “The Oscars are coming to Kilkenny, and they’re preparing an outdoor broadcast for us in front of Kilkenny Castle, so we’ll be standing there from about 2am onwards.”
“It’s always exciting to be a part of such a big event, and the trick is to take it seriously and enjoy it rather than take it seriously.”
He added, “It’s always hard to beat Disney and Pixar, but I don’t mind being the underdog.”
