The Taliban have made rapid territorial gains in Afghanistan over the past few weeks.
Having already taken over rural areas and border crossings, they now captured a number of provincial capitals.
The government still controls some of the most important urban centers, but with nearly all international forces gone, there are growing concerns about the pace of the Taliban’s advance and what that means for those under their rule.
The BBC’s Afghanistan correspondent, Secunder Kermani, has been given rare access to newly captured Taliban territory in the north of the country – where militants have been besieging the city of Mazar-i-Sharif.
