A Hungarian couple taking part in a challenge to raise awareness of river pollution in the Danube has come across a pair of rare white-tailed eagles who have been clasped together, likely after a fight, at risk of drowning.
Claudia Kiss and Richard Varga take it upon themselves to rescue them before continuing their journey, from the Black Sea near Romania to the Black Forest in Germany.
It’s a three-month journey, which is also how long they got to know each other before embarking on this project.
