While we wait for news of Riviera’s fate, series star Julia Stiles is branching out. She’s ready to make her directorial debut with “Wish You Were Here,” an adaptation of Phiphen Pictures’ bestselling Renee Carlino book. A press release announced the news.
Wish You Were Here follows Charlotte, “A woman finds herself in a rut, searching for a spark that seems elusive. After spending a stormy night of romance and fantasizing about a future with a man named Adam, he cheats on her. When Charlotte finally discovers that Adam has a terminal illness, she helps him… Spend his last days living to the fullest,” brief pic details.
“I’ve been searching for the right story to come out as a feature for a while and finally found it with Renee Carlino’s ‘I Wish I Were Here’ novel,” Stills said. “This story is a timeless look at true love that also feels contemporary and very specific to the times we live in now.”
“The God Committee,” Stiles’ latest movie, premiered at Tribeca. The medical thriller about the transplant committee tasked with deciding which patients deserves a life-saving heart transplant, hits select and on-demand theaters July 2.
Stiles plays Georgina in Sky Atlantic’s “Riviera,” a soapy drama about an American art curator whose life takes an unexpected turn when her billionaire husband dies in a yacht accident. The third season of the show aired in 2020. So far, there is no word on whether or not it will return for the fourth season, “Hustlers”, “Silver Linings Playbook”, “Bourne”, “Save the Last Dance” and “10 Things I Hate About You” among other on-screen credits.
Stiles, who previously directed the episodes of “Paloma” and the 2007 short “Raving” She talked about wanting to take out a feature with Indiewire back in 2019. “I’ve been on a lot of movie sets, so the fear factor is gone,” she explained. “It’s just a matter of, what story am I willing to invest so much time in.” “It takes a lot of work and responsibility in a way that is probably more difficult than being an actress,” she added.
