Angela Merkel said that the Brexit negotiations are in the “final race” stage

In Toulouse, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said this evening that she believes this was the “last race” for negotiations and that she “increasingly believes” that an agreement will be reached with the United Kingdom.

Merkel said she wanted every success of the agreement and praised Michel Barnier’s negotiations. French President Emmanuel Macron said: “I share everything the chancellor said.

“It is our hope and desire that we will be able to ratify an agreement, and I hope that an agreement will be reached in the coming hours.”

He said he heard positive things today. Macron said: “I thank Michel Barnier for negotiating with great seriousness and with respect to the member states.”
