GB NewsDiscovery-powered, the new UK news channel to launch on June 13.
The network, headed by former BBC presenter Andrew Neal, will go live at 8 pm local time with a show that welcomes fans to the new service.
GB News has spent recent months hiring and building its London studio. The channel is causing a sensation in the UK, with its promise to provide an alternative to the BBC and Sky News, and to record journalists including former BBC presenter Simon McCoy and Dan Wootton, who were both executive editors of The Sun.
The channel will air directly on Freeview 236, meaning it is under RT and Al Jazeera in the TV Guide. Other presenters include Neil himself, who will host his own, and Alastair Stewart, former ITV news anchor.
Discovery CEO David Zaslav said last week that alongside CNN, GB News will be an important part of the combined Discovery and WarnerMedia group. He told the press, “We love CNN. If you go to Europe, we crave entertainment, realism, pioneers in sports, and we’ve been attacked with the news. We’ve just made a very huge investment in the UK.” [in GB News]In terms of direction for us, our plan was to spread throughout Europe, because we believe that one of the distinguishing factors is live broadcasting, news and live sports. “
