Donald Trump’s insult to the nation continues over his impeachment defense: Live Coverage # 2

Donald Trump’s impeachment defense begins – and is expected to end – today, after two days of debate over his conviction by the impeachment directors in the House. That trial was very solid, and it follows how Trump paved the way to delegitimizing an election he lost, then following when he lost, insisting that the election must be stolen. They showed that Trump himself chose the January 6 date for an event – which he promised would be “wild” – and called on his supporters to Washington, DC the day Congress met to ratify the election results. They showed his frequent pressure and public attacks on Mike Pence, who wanted to overturn the elections. They showed how the crowd outside the White House encouraged anger and march to the Capitol. They showed how the mob received Trump’s instructions, saying it themselves in videos of the Capitol attack and in interviews and court documents since they were doing what they were asked to do. They’ve shown how close they come to harming members of Congress – especially Pence -. And they showed how Trump did not summon the mob throughout the offensive.

Now his defense team begins, realizing that the vast majority of Republican senators do not care how guilty Trump is nor how ineffective the defense is. Expect to be incompetent and dangerous instead and to show her contempt for the rule of law in her flabby and shortness.
