Demi Lovato Lots of people are scratching their heads about this – it just got crazy because a store advertising “diet” options … is something you deem sexy and harmful.
The singer went to IG Saturday to call a frozen yogurt joint called The Bigg Chill … which appears to have low-sugar / low-fat / fat-free foods at the front of one of their stores and / or checkout counters.
She writes, “You find it very difficult to order froyo from thebiggchillofficial when you have to skip tons of sugar-free cookies / other diet foods before it gets to the table.”
Demi went to tell them to “do better” … and tagged her passion with #culture_culture. If you are confused about why she is upset … you are not alone.
However, she clarified with another comment, saying that she will use this hashtag to invoke “harmful messages” from brands that she believes are perpetuating a community that enables and praises unregulated eating as well.
What she seems to be saying … by putting these low-calorie foods in people’s faces like this, they’re also lighting them gas / shame, and making them feel bad for wanting a treat, which Demi finds painful – especially for those with disorders Eating and body problems.
TBC responded to Demi in their DMs, which they posted. They explain that they have these alternatives for diabetics, people with celiac disease, vegetarians, and a host of others who may want (or need) so-called “diet” options. Demi seems to realize … she jumped to conclusions and may have overreacted, as noted in her response.
Waiting for your permission to download Instagram Media.
She recommends better naming things to be more inclusive. 🤷🏽♂️
