Germany has stopped using the AstraZeneca vaccine for people under the sixties, after the German drug regulator found 31 cases of a rare blood clot among the 2.7 million people who received the vaccine.
The European Medicines Agency and UK regulatory authority, MHRA, said there was no indication that the vaccine was linked to blood clots.
Despite this, Angela Merkel insisted that Germany would still offer a vaccine for every adult by the end of the summer.
They are largely dependent on the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, with a new plant in Marburg aiming to produce 1 billion doses per year.
Jenny Hill went to see how the vaccine was made.
