In the same week that Governor Gavin Newsom dropped capacity limits, social distancing rules and most concealment requirements across the state, the so-called delta variable From Corona virus disease-19 increased nearly 30%. The state also announced last week that Delta was a “variable of concern” for the first time.
The dynasty was previously registered hardly in the weekly New variants count Posted by CA Department of Public Health. But on Thursday, the number of cases related to delta and related variants detected in the state rose from 286 to 399. That’s a rise of 28.6% on a weekly basis. The total number, of course, is still insignificant compared to the more than 3 million infections from other strains in the region.
But with UK leader Boris Johnson extending his country’s lockdown due to Delta’s rapid spread, it was so it is expected that It became the dominant variant in the US this summer. The delta variant and related kappa variants have been implicated in the large-scale outbreak in India. The CDC estimates that the delta variant accounted for about 10% of new cases in the United States last week. It is believed to be at least 60% more transmissible than the original strain that spread across America.

at CaliforniaIt’s not just the changing numbers for concern that are up. The 7-day test positivity rate, which reached an all-time low of 0.7% on June 5, has reached rose steadily to 1% in the last two weeks in the state. It is the first sustained rise in this leading indicator of Covid-19 since the worst outbreak of the pandemic in January.
Between late April and early June, 64 cases of Delta-related infections were identified among Los Angeles County residents, with most identified in the past few weeks, according to Department of Health data. Much of the transmission of this variable appears to occur within homes. What’s more, with only a fraction of the positive test results screened to determine the variant that caused it, the true number of delta-related infections is likely to be much greater.
Los Angeles Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer said Saturday that the county is seeing a slow but steady rise in the local number of COVID cases that includes Delta.
“We are particularly concerned about this variant because it appears to be highly transmissible, and by that we mean it is more contagious, even than the highly contagious Covid variants,” Ferrer said.
“It is also thought that this variant may cause a more serious infection than other variants of Covid. And while people who have had full vaccinations appear to be very well protected against infection with delta forms, people who have had only one vaccine [doses] Not well protected at all. “
With social distancing and capacity and most mask restrictions lifted in workplaces, Ferrer warned there was an increased risk of spreading worrisome variables.
“Right now, this is an epidemic of unvaccinated people who are at increased risk of unknowingly incubating delta and other variables of concern,” Ferrer said. “At home, unvaccinated people may be able to control their risk by limiting who enters their physical environment and from what distance they interact. However, unvaccinated workers on worksites often lack this type of control.”
