London, eighteenth century. Casanova, famous for his connections to sexual pleasure and gambling, recently arrived in exile from Paris. Casanova lives in a new city that is completely alien to him, and he meets a beautiful young prostitute, Marianne de Charbellon. He becomes so in love with her that he loses interest in all the other women. The legendary lover is ready to do anything to seduce her, but Charpillon has other plans and refutes his advances. With challenges to Casanova: “You’ll only enjoy me if you stop wanting me!” He must adopt a new philosophy to achieve the love he desires. Narrated in flashbacks, the film reveals Casanova’s lifelong secret that Charbonne was the only true love of his life.
