“Titane” will have its North American premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival. A press release announced that Palme d’Or winner Julia Ducornau will open the festival’s Midnight Madness section. Cannes Breakout tells the story of a dancer, model, and serial killer with a sexual attraction to cars. Also featured is Kate Dolan’s “You’re Not My Mom” section of Midnight Madness, an Irish horror film about a teenage girl who becomes increasingly concerned about her mother’s antics.
The festival revealed lineups for a number of other programmes, including the TIFF Docs and Contemporary World Cinema. Among the titles featured on the screen are TIFF Docs. Contemporary world cinema’s roster includes Laura Sammani’s Little Body, the story of a woman trying to bring her stillborn baby back to life.
TIFF takes place September 8-18. Includes previously announced titles “The Power of a Dog” by Jane Campion Western about brothers who run a cattle ranch in Montana, and Dennis Gullit, “Night Raiders” A dystopian science fiction story about a Cree woman.
