Can the Paralympic Games bring lasting change?

0

The Paralympic Games opened in Tokyo next week with the participation of more than 4,000 disabled athletes from around the world.

Ahead of the event, the International Paralympic Committee is launching a new campaign called WeThe15. Its goal is to improve the lives of 15% of the world’s population with disabilities.

Figures show that globally many people with disabilities live in poverty and struggle to get an education and a job.

So what is needed to bring about meaningful change for people with disabilities and what role can the Paralympics play in raising awareness and changing attitudes?
