Buffalo Bill was a terrible host for his good downstairs guests in “The Silence of the Lambs” – so we hope the new home owners from the movie do a lot better.
That’s right … the spooky house in which the fictional serial killer lived – and tortured people – is now being converted into a bed and breakfast in Periopolis, Pennsylvania. It was recently sold after hitting the market again in October for around $ 300K.
New owner – theater art director Chris Rowan From New York- He says he plans to give the drug a makeover of sorts, but in a scary way loyal to the movie.
What exactly that means … a décor install that fans might recognize from the movie, including a replica of a well – just like the movie! Don’t worry, it’s only for taking pictures … so no, you can’t pay extra to stay there.
He says the movie has become a staple of pop culture – and that he and his family are sure people will flock there to sleep at their new BB bed and breakfast.
As for the specifications … the 4-bedroom home – which is over 100 years old – measures about 2,400 square feet and sits on nearly 2 acres of land. There are railroad tracks (complete with an old nightmare) a stone’s throw away, and you can also reach the Youghiogheny River from the backyard. The only major renovation to come … a swimming pool in the grounds.
The last thing worth mentioning – the former owner was a former FBI agent at one point, just like Jodi FosterClarisse. Oh, how dear it is (Hannibal Lecter’s scary voice).
