Pete Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Cathy Superstar will attract a new generation of Young children in the land of magic: The trio are set to reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters in the 1993 sequel to the Halloween cult classic “Hocus Pocus”. A press release announces the news.
Scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney + in 2022, “Hocus Pocus 2” will be directed by Anne Fletcher. The supplement tells the story of three young women who accidentally bring the Sanderson sisters to “contemporary Salem, and they must know how to prevent hungry witches for children from wreaking havoc on the world,” as the film’s synopsis hints at.
Almost three decades after its original release, “Hocus Pocus” is still a favorite with many during the Halloween season.
“Now more than ever, people need to laugh. We have to laugh every day, and there is a lot of fun with these three gorgeous women playing delicious characters from such a beloved movie,” Fletcher said. “I’m so grateful to be able to play a role in bringing these wizards back to life, and working with my friends at Disney again makes it even more special. This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first movie to the next generation of viewers, I can’t wait to get started.” .
“Dumplin,” “The Proposal,” and “27 Dresses” are among Fletcher’s features.
Midler, who has been nominated twice for an Academy Award, has received nominations for song The Rose and For the Boys. Other Winners Credits for Tony, Emmy, and Grammy include “The First Wives Club” and “Beaches.”
Parker will reprise her Emmy Award-winning iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw in HBO Max’s upcoming revival “Sex and the City,” “And Just Like That.” She starred in the HBO movie “Divorce” from 2016 to 2019.
