Myanmar’s security forces have killed at least 12 people, according to eyewitnesses and the media, as the Acting Prime Minister of a parallel civilian government pledged in his first public speech on Saturday to continue a “revolution” to topple the February 1 military coup.

“As long-time supporters of Myanmar and its people, we stress the urgent need to restore democracy and the priority of strengthening democratic resilience,” the four leaders said in a statement issued by the White House.

Security forces escalate their violent crackdown on protesters in Myanmar.
