A veteran of the Asian US Army took the step of taking off his shirt during a city council meeting in Ohio to show the scars he sustained while serving.
Lee Wong told the West Chester Township Board of Trustees, saying people had previously told him he didn’t look “American enough,” “What does patriotism look like.”
The 69-year-old’s comments came amid a series of US demonstrations against hate crimes against Asian Americans in the wake of the Atlanta resort shooting, where many of the dead were women of Asian descent.
